Thursday Again

It's been a whole week since I last posted.  You know what that means?
Yes, it's Lunch-out-with-my-friends Day again!
I'm feeling casual on this warm, sunny day.

Don't ask me why I look so silly in my photo.
Maybe I'm just giddy with happiness to be going out with my friends.

Anyway, here's what I'm wearing.
Top ~ Joseph A. (thrifted)
Skirt ~ Faded Glory (thrifted)
Purse ~ Handmade by me (You can read the story of the purse here.)
Shoes ~ Teva (gift)

Gotta run now or I'll be late for my lunch date!

Thursdays are Fun Days!

I look forward to Thursdays because that's the day I get to meet my girlfriends for lunch out.
I crave girl talk.
It helps me retain my sanity (kind of) since I live in a house full of guys.

Here's what I'm wearing on this beautiful, warm, sunny day.

Top ~ Casual Corner Annex (thrifted)
Skirt ~ handmade by me (fabric from Hobby Lobby)
Purse ~ SAK (thrifted )
Shoes ~ Solo (Shoe Dept)
Necklace ~ thrifted
My necklace is not really a necklace at all.
It's a 60's brooch.
I ran a chain through it and pinned it in place.

Here's what I wore.

Skirt ~ homemade by me (fabric from Hobby Lobby)

The poor purse doesn't have a name.
It is one of my happy thrift store finds.
You can read its story here.

Enjoy your day

Life is not a race - but indeed a journey.
Be Honest.
Work Hard.
Be Choosy.
Say "thank you", and "great job" to someone each day.
Go to church, take time for prayer. The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh.
Let your handshake mean more than pen and paper.
Love your life and what you've been given, it is not accidental ~ search for your purpose and do it as best you can.
Dreaming does matter. It allows you to become that which you inspire to be.
Laugh often.
Appreciate the little things in life and enjoy them. Some of the best things really are free.
Do not worry, less wrinkles are more becoming.
Forgive, it frees the soul.
Take time for yourself ~ Plan for longevity.
Recognize the special people you've been blessed to know.
Live for today, enjoy the moment.

I plan to slow down and enjoy my day.
I wish you a happy day.
Enjoy!

Sunday's Outfit ~ Coming home to my boys!

Our sons have been holding down the fort while sweet hubby and I have been visiting our daughter and son-in-law.
Maybe one day we'll all live in the same state again.
I can dream.

I have two options for my outfits to wear home.

Gray cardigan ~ Gap (thrifted)
Blue top ~ Jillian & Nicole Petites (Burke's Outlet)

And here's option #2.

Hope I don't end up wearing them the whole time, but you never know about me or the weather.

Cami ~ ?
Purple necklace ~ Burkes Outlet
Not Your Daughter's Jeans ~ Dillards

Thursday's Outfit

I made pictures of the outfits I'm taking to Indiana for the next few days.
I got a little warm and windblown while making these on such a warm and windy day here, but looking at the pictures really helped me make the decisions on what ~ and what not~ to take.

As I said before, I love skirts because they are much more comfortable than pants to me.
So here's what I'm wearing on the long trip there.

Cardigan~ Messimo (Target)
Cami~ (Walmart lingerie dept)
Black skirt ~ handmade by me
Mary Jane Shoes ~ Dockers (Burke's Outlet)

I can easily kick these backless shoes off and prop up my feet along the way.
BTW, I'm not doing the driving.   :)

I'm wearing a black skirt and taking a gray skirt with several tops.
I'm using my basics just like Missus Smarty Pants says I should.

Wednesday's Outfit

I'm packing up today.
Sweet hubby and I are heading out for Indiana tomorrow to spend a few days with our daughter and her husband.
My springy outfit is appropriate for this warm Alabama weather but I've got to pull out my warmer clothes for our trip.

Cardigan~ G.H. Bass & Co. (Bass Outlet)
Tank ~ Chicos
Skirt~ No name (thrifted)
(I know you can't see the details but my skirt is a handkerchief soft, lined eyelet. A great thrifty find and so comfortable!)
Shoes~ Song by Spring Step (ShoeBuy.com)

I'm loving my new shoes.
They're so comfy and match everything.
Well, I'm off to town to pick out some audio books from the library for our long car trip.
Then it's back home to pack.

Hope you have a great day!

Tuesday's Outfit

My camera's timer and my son's tripod are new challenges to me but I'm learning.
So here's my outfit for the day~ well morning actually.
The temp started out in the low 30's and is supposed to get into the 60's later today. So, I'll probably change into the second outfit when I get home from kindergarten (I'm volunteering today.)

Cardigan ~ Hillard & Hanson (Burke's Outlet)
Green tank ~ Bass (thrifted)
Not Your Daughter's Jeans ~ Dillards
Purse ~ handmade (you can read the post here)
Shoes~ my trusty ole Skechers

Necklace (Burke's Outlet)

My afternoon outfit.

Skirt ~ Austin (thrifted)

A Model I'll never be

Why do I love following fashion blogs?
I love seeing what other women wear.
Not the In Style type of blogs, but the down-to-earth, every day blog of the common woman (if there is such a thing as a common woman).
(My style is skirts and cardigans for the winter/fall and skirts and knit tops for spring/summer.)
I love looking girly but I also love being comfortable and to me, skirts are more comfortable than pants.

At times other blogs give me a case of the "I wants."
They make me yearn for a cute outfit just like they're wearing.
Then I got to looking in my closet and know what I found?
A closet full of clothes that I would be longing for if I saw someone else modeling them.

I had the great idea that if I had pictures of my own clothes put together in actual outfits, then maybe I would appreciate what I have instead of wanting more.
So then I started wishing for a camera with a timer so I could make pictures of my own outfits.

After getting my son to snap my picture this morning I told him about my desire for a camera with a timer and he showed me that MY camera does indeed have a timer.
He even took the time to show me how to use it.
Sweet son.

So here's my outfit of the day (sans makeup).
Remember when he snapped my picture it was early and it was windy and cold .
I know, excuses, right?

Sweater~The Limited (thrifted)
Camisole (Walmart, in the lingerie dept.)
Skirt~handmade by me
Shoes~I Love Comfort (Sears)
Necklace~ $3.90! (Body Shop)
Purse~handmade by someone else (thrifted, 50 cents)

I've finished my second cup of coffee while sitting here in front of my computer so now I'm getting up to finish my Monday morning household chores.  Then I'll make out my menu and head out to the grocery store (after I apply a little makeup).

Maybe I'll have time to practice with my camera and tripod this afternoon.
I'd love to master the art of homemade fashion photography.

Want to join me?
I'd love to see what you're wearing today.
Leave me a link and I'll come take a peek.

It's So Me

I've been pondering over the answers to this question since deciding to join in with the party, and here are my thoughts.

My blog is an extension of me.
It's full of my thoughts and my randomness.
I've decided that I don't want my blog to grow up.
I want it to continue to be just like me and if you take a peek at my profile you'll see that I've never fully grown up on the inside and I love it that way.

Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would ever have over 200 followers on my blog ~ well, okay maybe in my wildest dreams.
And I never dreamed I would meet so many people through my blog that have become true friends.
You are quick to encourage me when I feel down or discouraged.
You rejoice with me when I am celebrating.
I treasure each and every one of you.

This link party dared us to dream our biggest dreams, our wildest hopes, and greatest aspirations.

My biggest dream, wildest hope, and greatest aspiration is to help someone else along the way.
Encourage someone.
Make someone smile.
If my blog does that for even one person, then it has served its purpose.
